Team TUSD
Trish Sierra
Trish Sierra is a phenomenal 1st grade teacher at Borman K-8! Trish's dedication to TUSD spans two distinct chapters: she first taught at Borman 25 years ago for two years, and after raising her children, she returned! She has now been back for seven years as a teacher (plus two years subbing), bringing her total years of service to nine years of teaching and two years of subbing!Trish loves the excitement of teaching 1st grade because it's where students make huge leaps in learning. She embraces the challenge of taking students who enter with minimal skills and helping them exceed and excel. "They learn to really read and really do math and really learn to write," she shares enthusiastically. It's the monumental growth she facilitates that makes her job so rewarding!
Outside of the classroom, Trish is incredibly busy supporting her four children and the community. She’s a dedicated volunteer, serving as a leader for both Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts since 2007! When they aren't scouting, her family is often poolside, as her kids are heavily involved in swimming. Borman K-8 and TUSD are so fortunate to have Trish's passion both inside and outside the school walls!
Candace Wills-Hodge
We're thrilled to shine a spotlight on Candace, an inspiring educator at Borman K-8! Candace has been a dedicated member of the TUSD team since 2010, and she's been sparking curiosity at Borman since 2011. Candace has spent most of her time shaping young minds in the third grade and recently made the exciting shift to teaching fourth grade, which she absolutely loves! Her secret to success? It's all about the students."I think what I like best about my job is really just the kids. I think that they're amazing," she shares with enthusiasm. Candace finds joy in teaching concepts and making strong, fun connections with her students and their families every single year, which helps bring good energy and great vibes to her classroom.
Outside of the classroom, family is Candace's heart! She loves spending quality time with her five children. And for a fun surprise, she de-stresses and has fun by working out and lifting weights!
