Aly, who is beginning her 6th year teaching, credits much of her teaching style to working as a paraprofessional in a preschool for 7 years. She recognizes that daily instruction isn’t always curriculum-based, and looks for teachable moments with each student on their SEL journey—particularly with military students. “I am amazed every day at how resilient and open-minded they are,” she says, knowing the life experiences they come in with often provide them with the best responses to open-ended, text-based questions. She also attributes much of her students’ success to the Savvas Curriculum, knowing the students are learning everything they need to know before they begin their next journey. 

Aly isn’t the only LaRue at Borman, but rather shares the space with her husband Nicholas, who teaches 4th grade, and their daughter Luna, who is beginning 2nd grade. She loves having her family close and feels like Borman is her second home, providing students (and teachers) a calming colorful classroom atmosphere with cushions, low-lighting, and a variety of seating options for any and all learners. 

Aly is looking forward to a new chapter as she and her family welcome a new baby, Rowan, in October. “It’ll be a really great opportunity for my students to see the different facets of their teacher, what goes into teaching and being a mom and juggling all of it successfully. The kids are over the moon about the little man!” Both LaRues plan to visit during their respective leave while wearing him to still retain a sense of presence in the classroom. 

Mr. Madison is thrilled to be part of the Borman Elementary community and is passionate about creating a positive, supportive classroom where all students can grow and succeed. He believes strong relationships and high expectations help students build confidence both academically and personally.

Outside of school, Mr. Madison enjoys sports, music, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. He looks forward to a great year of learning and growth with his students.

Megan has taught for 19 years and recently completed her first year here at Borman K-8, and she says she truly feel like she has found where she belongs. Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to work in both middle school and elementary settings, but elementary education has always felt like her true calling. 

Coming from a family with a strong military background, Megan values dedication, service, and building meaningful relationships within a community. From the moment she joined the school, she says she fell in love with the students, staff, and positive atmosphere that makes Borman K-8 such a special place.

Megan says one of the most inspiring parts of being here is witnessing the resilience of our students and the way they support and welcome one another. "It is truly a sight to see when new students join our classroom and are immediately embraced with kindness, encouragement, and friendship. Every day, I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of a school community that feels like home and inspires me to give my very best to my students."
